Dapper Day experiences & tips

Dapper Day Tips

Dapper Day is a bi-annual event that happens at select Disney parks (Anaheim,
Florida & recently Paris).
The creator of Dapper Day was inspired by original Disney Park Designers'
illustrations that featured Dapper guests in the park.
What to wear:
From Victorian era clothing, to 1920's through the todays modern clothing, many people dress in
vintage & reproduction 1950's attire as a nod to the decade when the park first opened.
And for me I have always had this love for the 1950's my first exposure to 1950's fashion was I Love Lucy specifically when they went to Hollywood and the nose burning episode. The outfit she has on
while her nose is burning has always been one of my favorites.
*plan outfits early you want to give yourself time to either order/find your clothing and accessories       and receive them on time, or if for some reason you have to make alterations.
*You want something that you are going to be comfortable in, especially if you're going to be at
the park from open to close
*take weather into consideration when planning an outfit, and plan for changes.
Footwear:

*If you're going to be at the parks all day you want shoes that you know you'll be comfortable in
   all day
*remember to break in your shoes early,  wear your shoes a couple of hours a day to give your
feet time to get used to them and make any changes and get rid of any kinks that they may have.

Other:

*You want to be prepared for anything, have a mini sewing kit handy, as well as a mini first aid
kit with band-aids, aspirin. And a shower cap if you plan on going on some water rides.
*If you plan on getting locker at the parks get there early as the do go fast.
*If you plan on eating at the park, some restaurants take reservation and the event has gotten
bigger after each event. So reservations would be come in handy so you don't have to wait for
a table for a long period of time.

And remember to have fun with it, get creative with your outfits

Here are my past Dapper Day event outfits..

Spring 2013
I wasn't too sure if I was going to get the day off from work,
and we put our outfits together the week before.. It's not my favorite
outfit but it still worked..And I tried a new setting pattern for my hair
that did not work out as well as I had hoped.. And since then I always do a practice
run for hair & makeup a couple of weeks before Dapper Day to work out any kinks.

Fall 2013
We decided to Disneybound as Pongo & Perdita
We got my husband a fitted shirt, and he looks better in this one in
comparison the the Spring 2013 event. We could not find a polka dot belt for my husband to
match my dress so I took one of his old belts and covered it in ribbon that matched
my dress. My dress was one size too small,
I ordered this on ebay and didn't see that it was in UK sizing, until after I had
tried it on and noticed it wasn't fitting properly..
since then I have learned to always check the sizing.
Dress - Ebay
Necklace - handmade by my mom.
Red bowtie - Pinup bootique
shoes - Kmart

Spring 2014
We decided to Disneybound as Aurora & Prince Phillip, plus it's my hubby's favorite
Disney movie...
I love the way my husband's outfit came out, the dress is from Unique Vintage
and it looks better in picture than it does in person. It looks like a faded blue in person.
I was going to wear a creme colored cardigan but when I saw the color of the dress I thought
it might help the bound if I went with a blue cardigan instead.
Dress - Unique Vintage
Cardigan - JC Penny
Shoes - Kmart
Necklace - Claire's

Fall 2014
We decided not to Disneybound for this event. Mainly
because of this dress, I saw it on the website and had to have it
it's the most elegant swing style dress I've ever seen/owned. I feel
so  glamorous in it.

Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland & Update

Hello lovelies...
November 6th 2014 was the second annual Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland.
I had so much fun that day, we got there just in time for the last group picture
in Toontown. We made it with ten minutes to spare.. it gave me enough time
to catch my breath, after running to toontown..

As we waited I got a bit teary eyed, seeing all of the people in purple shirts..
As we started taking the group picture, a cast member ran and stood beside the
photographer and started waving her arms, I thought to myself, "OMG!! is a character
going to come and join our group pic... and YES! Pluto wanted to be in our
group pic, so we took another set of group pics..

Photographer :

We asked the photographer to take a pic of myself and my husband, and I love
way it came out..

Photographer:

Second Annual Epilepsy Awareness Day at Disneyland
& I am two years seizure free, I am so happy about that..
I ecstatic about, I'm making sure I'm eating right,
getting enough sleep and trying not to stress out to much.
Exercise has been such a big help,
Along with the above mentioned, I started clean eating, I cut out
all processed foods, sodas, breads, pastas, & dairy.
Cutting out all of the above mentioned yummy foods has really
helped, I do still indulge every once in a while. My favorite
indulgence is the protein style burger at in-n-out...
so yummy!!

I consulted my doctor and she gave me the go ahead.
But to take notes in any changes, whether good or bad.
I slept better, and my twitches (myoclonic jerks have stopped).
I do plan on going vegan sometime soon, but that's something I
have to consult my doctor about..

Please do not start any diet changes without first consulting your doctor.

Another two years seizure free and I can start driving,
which I am looking forward to.

Nail art designs: Nude & Black

for this nail art I used to colors,
Wet N Wild's private viewing
&
Jordanna's black & Nail Art pop nail polish.

I started by applying my basecoat,
I love jordanna's garlic growth basecoat.
I applied wet n wild's megalast nail color in
Private Viewing. It's my favorite nude color
there is a slight shimmer to it, I noticed the shimmer
after I first tried it and fell in love.

I used ice water to dry them.

I started using jordanna's black nail polish
and mixed it with their Pop art nail polish.

For the polka dots, I used two different sized dotting tools.
I started with bigger dots at the tip and left some open space
to apply the smaller size dots.

I decided to do the same design on my right hand, and it came out
good, I have to practice on two things, the first is just drawing designs
on my right hand and the second is drawing a good straight line
with my left hand.

Practice means more nail designs which is always fun.

I once again used ice water to dry my nails.
I noticed less streaking with my nail art
after using ice water to dry my nails.

my left hand

my right hand

I'm very happy with the way they came out,
I've gotten some compliments on them too..
Do you have a favorite nude nail polish, if so leave me a comment
below, I'm always on the lookout for more nude nail polishes..
thanks for reading...

it from styling damage.

$9.99
8.5 fl.oz
100% Vegan
Wheat, Glutten and Silicone Free.

Scent:
*I personally love the scent of this, I'm a sucker for anything Pineapple or Coconut scented.
*It is a bit strong at first, and the scent does fade but it's a muted scent, and it does linger for a
bit, and it does fade away.
*If you are sensitive to smells I would smell this first.

Product:I'm dividing this in two parts since its a hair defrizzer and heat protector.
Heat Protector:*As a heat protector it works great, I saw less split ends, I wasn't curling/straightening my hair
as often and I wasn't using a blow dryer at all.
*It doubles as a natural leave in hair conditioner with its natural coconut, jojoba oils.
*as far as heat protectant, I feel it does work, it does help protect against split ends,
but I don't believe it can repair them, I've always believed that there is no repairing them.
*When used consistently your hair's natural shine does come through.
Defrizzer:
*As a defrizzer I do feel it works, if you are looking for something to completely get rid of
frizzy hair then and there this isn't it.
*If you use this product over time, and consistently, now I'm not saying straighten your hair
everyday but even just using it as a leave-in conditioner after you get out of the shower.
*My hair can be pretty unruly, and using this along with other products has helped.
*Using this alone will help you but when its used in combination of other products to help
tame the unruly frizzies, I believe it does help.

On days that I don't use any heat on my hair I spray this after I get out of the shower and let my
hair air dry, once in a while I'll give myself a blow out, I'm trying not to use my curling iron as much.
this gives my hair a shine, which is what really drew me to this product, well that and it's cruelty free.

DIY Halloween: Storage Bin Decoration

I mentioned in my spooky vase post that my husband and I were re-decorating our bedroom, so I'm starting with our closet, with little touches here and there..
So we recently got a 5 shelf bookcase and we were able to move some things around, and my arts and crafts things were out and in the way so I said to myself ok I should get some plastic storage bins and keep it in the garage, so I was at work and someone left a black storage bin in my department and that's when it hit me, I could use these to store my arts and crafts materials and decorate the outside with a purple ribbon. So that's when we decided to do redecorate our room inspired by The Nightmare before Christmas... I talked to my husband about it shared my idea and he liked it, so I bought two of the bins the next day at work...

So for this storage bin decoration
you will need:
Storage bin,
ribbon,
decoration,
scissors,
hot glue gun,
tape
All of these can be modified to suit what you have.

Before
The first thing I did was take the ribbon and place some tape at the end of the ribbon to help me
decide where I want to place the ribbon.

So after I knew where I was going to place the ribbon, I took the tape off and frayed the edges of
ribbon..So it wouldn't be in my way...

So I put a dab of the glue on ribbon and placed it at the starting point and and applied gentle
pressure to get the ribbon to stick to the bin... I put a dab of glue in the middle of the ribbon
on all four sides..

the ribbon glued in place

So I took the pack of skeleton bones that I picked up at Party City for $2.99 and chose two,
when I filmed this I did not notice that when I glued the second one that it was bigger than
first so I had to take it off and place a same size bone lol..

So I glued both bones, and made sure they were the same distance apart and all that jazz.
And here is the final product...

Product Review: Wet N Wild Mega Impact Mascara

Make an impact. This revolutionary mascara formula provides extreme volume and length
with a silicon complex that provides elasticity and flexibility. Proven to enhance the natural
lash up to 8x, this all-in-one formula is enriched with Kernel Oil to permeate and condition
each lash to promote healthy, strong hairs while adding color and shine.

I love the design on the top portion of the tube..

Close up of the wand...

Retails for $3.99
Available for purchase on
http://wnwbeauty.com/product.php?cid=15&pid=926&subid=24
Available in: Very Black
Cruelty Free
Packaging: *Bright orange tube, and this color to me just screams 80s.
*One I have one cons with this product and the first being the lettering on
this does come off after a while so I put some tape on the lettering to keep
it from coming off.
*It reminds me of the covergirl lashblast at least I think that's what it's called

Product:
*
This mascara is a drier formula but it's not too dry. and it does dry quickly.

*On it's own I do see difference in my lashes, they do look volumized,
I'll have to try two coats and post pics of both, and with layering
*Now layering this mascara with other mascaras and it works
really well, I use the wet n wild mega protein mascara first since
the formula of that one is more wet. Followed by the mega impact
mascara and ending it with the mega length mascara.
*As far as clumping I haven't experienced any but clumping happens
when you re-apply mascara to already dried mascara.
*there is no weird or unpleasant smell.
*The brush is a big size but it's not too big and there is a slight layering
  in the brush.

Final thoughts:
I love this product, honestly the reason I picked this up was purely because
of the color, if I see something that just screams 80s and I Need this in my
life!!! wooot wooot for all the babies born in the 80s..
Thanks so much for reading...Til Next Time lovelies..

DIY Halloween: Spooky Vase

Halloween has always been my favorite time of the year, and I've always wanted to have our house decorated year around with Halloween decorations, now don't get me wrong I love Halloween decorations, but my mom not so much.. So we're re-decorating our bedroom and it's going to be inspired by The Nightmare before Christmas, it's always been mine and my husband's favorite movie.
So for this DIY Spooky Vase
you will need:

Vase,
White Artificial flowers,
Small toy spiders
Black Ribbon
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun

Optional:
Spider Webs
Reminder all of the above mentioned materials can be changed
to your liking... =)

I started by measuring out how much ribbon I would need for the neck of the vase, and set it aside.
Next I lit a match and frayed the edges of the ribbon, so it wouldn't come apart while working with
it. I took the hot glue gun and put a little dab of it at the end of the ribbon and placed that on the neck of the vase, wrapped it around the neck and placed a second dab of glue on top of the first. I had it overlapping a little bit which is fine, this part is covered by the little purple bat I placed on top.
the ribbon & purple bat added.
I only needed 3 bunches of the flowers, so I set the others aside for another project. I then arranged
the flowers to my liking and set them inside the vase and set that aside.
I grabbed the spider rings and began cutting the ring part off...

Spidey rings before...

Spidey ring after...

I cut 5 but I ended up putting 1 more because
there were some open spaces that I wasn't liking.
Now grab that vase again, before you start placing
the spiders on the flowers look at the flowers
and decide where you want them to go...
And after you decide starting putting them on the flowers...

And viola! it's finished... a shot from above

I know I mentioned in the video that I wouldn't
be putting in the spider webs, but I thought I'd put
them on there just to see how it looked and I loved it,
so I kept it...

I was originally going to use a skull ring and keep it with the two colors, but it didn't turn out well so I went with the purple bat, I love the way the end result came out, this would look really cute for a Halloween centerpiece or if you're like me and you want Halloween year around this is a cute idea, and inexpensive, the flowers were .97 each, the vase was$1.00, ribbon was $1.00 as well, and the pack of spider rings pack was 2.99 at Michael's so all together I spent about $10.00 which was awesome!... Thanks for reading.. link for video will be posted as soon as it's ready... =D

Product Review: Alba Botanica Natural Acnedote Maximum Strength Face & Body Wash

It's time for tough love:
This powerfully natural, botanically effective, dual-purpose face and body scrub, with max strength
2% salicylic acid, is tough on backne but gentle enough for daily facial cleansing. Oil-free and form-
ulated with proven zit-zapper Salicylic Acid (naturally derived from Willow Bark Extract) plus
ground walnut shell to scrub away oil, dirt, and pore-plugging dead skin cells. Help banish breakouts
for visibly clearer skin without over-irritation. 80% of testers saw clearer skin throughout the day.
Dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic.

Retails for $9.95 on the Alba Botanica Website
100% Vegetarian. No: Animal Testing, Artificial Colors, Artificial Fragrances, Parabens, Phthalates,
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Myreth Sulfate.

Packaging:
White tube, flip lid.

Product:OH MY CHEESECAKES!!! where do I begin, ok so I spotted this at
walmart on clearance for 7.99 and I still had not found a good cruelty free
replacement for my St. Ives Apricot Scrub, so I knew that
Alba Botanica was
leaping Bunny approved so I bought it.

Scent:
Smelling products for me is a must so I smelled this in store and the
first thing I thought
of was henna tattoo( henna paste) and orange and
sandalwood, so after reading the ingredie
nts on the website there is
orange peel oil, and bergamot, the latter being one of my favor
ite notes
in perfumes. I absolutely love the way this smells, and if you are sensitive
to smells,
I would definitely smell this before purchasing.

*The product has a thinner consistency then the St. Ives scrub,
this scrub serves a dual purpose for those bacne and facial acne as well.
*My main problem is the occasional pimples from stress, bad eating habits
or mother nature paying me a visit lol.

*So the first time using this was the day of purchase didn't use it the second day,
so the third day I noticed the pimple was smaller so I rubbed the scrub into
the pimple a bit more, and the fifth day the pimple was just about gone which
  was awesome.

*It does tingle which is the peppermint oil working, I like to put this on after
I apply my conditioner, and leave it on no longer than 10 minutes,( if you have
sensitive skin no longer than 5) I like to leave it on a bit longer so the product has

time to get in there and do what it's got to do lol.
*I use this 3 times a week and I use it daily whenever I get a pimple and it gets
rid of pimples with in 3-4 days.

*I moisturize more when I use it daily, this is all natural and doesn't contain harsh
chemicals like the St. Ives scrub does, what sold me on this was the maximum

  strength part of the product.
*It lathers, but not a lot, which is a good thing.
*My husband loves this, he has bacne and it helps keep it under control, and uses
  it 3 times a week.

Overall this product is amazing, if you have allergies to walnuts I would stay away, since the scrub part of this is crushed walnut shells, and do a test spot on your hand, I have nothing but the best things to say about this product, Thankies to Alba Botanica for making not only an awesome product but a cruelty free product as well...
Thankies for reading

Protects against blotchiness for an even complexion.

"A daily does of sun doesn't have to be a risky proposition with this lightweight,

sea moss extracts, stimulates cell regeneration to help correct uneven tone,
while our breathable sunscreens help protect against future discoloration
and sun-induced complexion issues.Wears well alone or under makeup."

Cruelty Free
Leaping Bunny Certified
Made in the USA
2 fl.oz

No Artificial Colors
No Parabens
No Phthalates,
No Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
No Sodium Myreth Sulfate

So since I decided to go cruelty free I started looking for substitutes for the products
I used on a daily basis, and I started with my moisturizer. Now I previously used
St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer, and although it is a good product,
I don't like that it is not cruelty free. So after I bought my moisturizer at
The Vitamin Shoppe (wooot wooot to the vitamin shoppe carrying cruelty free products)
we stopped at Target and as I was checking out the Clearance end caps(I love me some target clearance) I saw this product and honestly I only saw that it was a moisturizer w/ spf 15,
leaping bunny certified and was on clearance for 5.98, and I was sold.....And I am so glad
I bought this, sorry for this little mini-story lol...
Packaging:
*
So I love that Alba Botanica's line of products have different color packaging for different skin
types/collections, and since this has sea moss and the packaging is light green, I see what you
did there Alba Botanica and I like it..
* Tube with a twist off cap, and it's a good size to travel with..
Product:
*
As a moisturizer it works amazeeng, sets into my skin very nicely
*I touch my face and it feels and looks moisturized, doesn't feel greasy after using it.
*It's not a harsh sunscreen, it's natural.
*It evened up my skin tones, one of my co-workers was the first to notice the even skin tone.
*I love the  sunscreen helps prevent uneven skin tone.
*My only Con to this product is it does leave a little bit of shine.
* Makeup doesn't look weird when applied on top of this, and doesn't sit heavy like regular sunscreen.
*A little bit of this goes a long way.
*Miss moisturizer and Mister Sunscreen had a baby, It's not a heavy cream and it's not a runny sunscreen it's a good balance of the two...lol
Scent:
*
For many the scent of the product is determines if they will buy any product, for me it's a pleasant
scent, it's not too overpowering and it does fade away after application.
*Doesn't have a heavy sunscreen smell..
*If you are sensitive to smells I would say smell this in store before buying.

I would recommend this for everyone, I absolutely love this product, and I know I will be stocking up on this for the summer....

Thankies so much for reading..
